POSITION SUMMARY:
The Open Innovation (OI) Business Development Manager drives growth by identifying impactful technologies and cultivating strategic partnerships that allow Hach to commercialize external innovations. This includes building a funnel of promising partnerships, leading partner due diligence, negotiating agreements and architecting commercial strategies. The successful OI BDM works cross-functionally to ensure that partner's products address valuable customer problems as well as deliver on performance expectations.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Provide leadership and drive cross-functional alignment to deliver company objectives, including but not limited to:
Leadership

  • Develop strategies, drive tactics and provide leadership in a dynamic, high-ambiguity, high-complexity environment.
  • Quickly establish significant credibility, trust, and support with all levels of internal and external organizations including peers, subordinates, and senior management.
  • Approach work with a strong sense of ownership, commitment, and urgency. Not afraid of challenging status quo. Partnerships
    • Identify and establish relationships & partnerships based on product roadmap requirements with external organizations (e.g. technology firms, universities, start ups, etc); contribute to contract development and partner with Product Management on commercialization plans
    • Manage relationship with partners going through viability assessment by setting expectations, establishing milestones and sustaining clear and open communication
    • Identify and cultivate acquisition targets aligned with Hach's long-term growth strategy Process Orientation
      • Drive transparent, disciplined execution with strong visual management
      • Initiate and champion meaningful and sustainable process improvements for long-term performance
      • Identify and evaluate current trends and growth opportunities by developing and leveraging relationships with the sales and service organization, visiting with key customers, following industry/opinion leaders and regulatory bodies, and utilizing other VOC collection / interpretation processes. QUALIFICATIONS:
        • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or other advanced Marketing degree would be a bonus!
        • 10+ years with relevant senior level experience in strategy, business development, product development, product design, portfolio management, or product commercialization preferred
        • Have a high level of strategic agility and demonstrate ability to drive innovation
        • Significant experience with financial modeling and business case development using KPI measurement and analytics
        • Be able to consider available facts, constraints, competitive circumstances, probable consequences and distill these into actionable recommendations
          The salary range for this role is $130,000 - $150,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado.
          This range may be modified in the future.
          This job is also eligible for bonus pay.
