Provide quality patient care to all patients within the medical
imaging department. Perform high quality images and exams on
patients while maintaining sensitivity to patient needs. Follow
standards of safe radiation practice. Demonstrate leadership
abilities and serve as a role model for other associate
technologists. Act as a clinical resource to students, staff
technologists, and other personnel. Ensure current standards of
practice for the unit are met. Perform diagnostic radiology
procedures while ensuring safety for self, patients, and others.
Practice all rules and regulations pertaining to radiation safety,
reducing personal and patient exposure to "as low as reasonably
achievable" (ALARA). Produce quality images in a complete,
accurate, and timely manner. Prepare patients for exams. Provide
information and instruction to patients and/or families regarding
the procedure while addressing their physical and emotional needs.
Assist patients during exams and position them correctly. Observe
patients and equipment during procedures and report/document any
unusual occurrences. Facilitate smooth patient flow, scheduling,
and optimal use of equipment/resources. Communicate effectively
with all physicians, imaging personnel, students, and staff to
facilitate the continuum of care. Assist with patient transport as
needed. Perform IV starts and contrast administration as required.
Complete assigned duties for other registered modalities as
instructed by management. Provide on-call coverage outside of
standard scheduled hours per department policy. Correctly input
charges and required data for procedures and supplies utilized
during exams. Complete required hospital/medical imaging paperwork
for each exam performed. Prepare rooms, equipment, and exam
materials needed for external exams. Maintain technical operation
of equipment and notify service when necessary. Inform supervisor
of equipment problems and log service calls according to department
procedures. Maintain clean work areas for employees and patients.
Maintain quality checks and equipment maintenance documentation per
department procedures. Proactively identify problems and follow up
with appropriate management personnel. Establish a constructive
rapport with physicians, staff, and departments. Maintain high
skill levels through ongoing education and meeting attendance and
share information with staff. Support the clinical and/or didactic
education of student radiographers and other healthcare
professionals. Encourage students to perform examinations and
provide feedback on radiographs. Participate in clinical training
and support students, staff technologists, and other personnel.
Provide guidance for the development of clinical skills and explain
equipment and departmental procedures. Engage in professional
activities through involvement in organizations, journal clubs,
online education, etc. Demonstrate a positive attitude toward the
profession. Actively participate in department and quality
improvement initiatives.
