Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Rotating Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years of acute care experience required License: Current RN license required Certifications: AHA BLS required Must-Have: Teaching hospital experience required Description: The Registered Nurse will work in a medical surgical oncology unit. This unit primarily cares for patients with a known cancer diagnosis needing surgical interventions. Patient care focuses on achieving specific post-operative milestones for discharge. Majority of procedures and diagnoses relate to the abdomen or pelvic area. The unit manages cases involving gynecologic oncology, colorectal, pancreatic, liver, and stomach conditions. No chemotherapy or biotherapy is administered in this unit. Nursing staff does not require chemotherapy certification to apply. Weekend shifts are required based on unit needs. The nurse may need to float within scope to meet facility needs. This position is suitable for first-time travelers with relevant teaching hospital experience. The nurse will be expected to adhere to all hospital policies and procedures throughout their tenure.
