Job Description Job Description POSITION OVERVIEW We are seeking a Senior QA Engineer with strong software development skills who is passionate about building scalable AI-assisted test automation. This role is not focused on manual testing execution; it is focused on engineering quality into the product through automation, tooling, and close collaboration with development teams. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining automated testing frameworks across frontend, backend, mobile, and API layers. You will leverage AI-assisted techniques to accelerate test creation, improve coverage, and continuously evolve our automation strategy. This role requires a developer mindset with a QA focus, someone who writes production-quality code, understands system architecture, and treats test automation as a first-class engineering discipline. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The successful candidate has an AI-first mindset and actively uses AI to: Analyze requirements and user stories to generate complete and high-quality test cases Accelerate creation of automated tests across UI, API, and backend services Improve regression coverage, edge-case discovery, and test maintainability Continuously optimize test frameworks, execution speed, and reliability AI is not experimental in this role — it is an integral part of how quality engineering work gets done. Test Automation & Engineering Design, develop, and maintain robust automated test frameworks for desktop, web, mobile (iOS/Android), and backend services Own automation for work item tests, regression suites, smoke tests, and health checks Write clean, maintainable, and scalable test code using modern programming practices Debug, refactor, and improve existing automation to ensure reliability and performance Implement and maintain API and service-level tests, including REST-based validation Build and execute load and stress testing to validate system performance and scalability AI-Enabled Quality Practices Use AI tools to accelerate test generation, improve coverage, and identify gaps Leverage AI to assist with test data creation, edge-case analysis, and exploratory scenarios Continuously evaluate new AI-driven approaches to test automation and quality engineering Collaboration & SDLC Integration Partner closely with engineers, product managers, and product owners to build quality into the SDLC Collaborate with developers to align automated testing with unit, integration, and system-level tests Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives with an engineering-first mindset Ensure defects are clearly documented, reproducible, and actionable in Azure Boards Reporting & Metrics Define, collect, and report on automation coverage, execution results, and quality metrics Leverage AI to provide insights into quality trends and systemic issues across products Coordinate with Support and Engineering on cross-team quality metrics and recurring issues SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS If you’re on the fence about meeting every requirement, please apply. Required Experience 5 years experience in a QA or Quality Engineering role for a SaaS product Strong software development experience with one or more of the following: C#, Java, Python, Ruby, or similar object-oriented / scripting languages 4 years designing and building automated test frameworks (not just writing scripts) 4 years testing mobile applications (iOS and Android) Proven experience automating web, mobile, and API-based systems Strong experience with REST API testing, tools, and validation techniques Experience with load and stress testing and associated tooling Solid SQL knowledge and ability to use databases for validation and test setup Quality Engineering Expertise Deep understanding of QA principles, SDLC, and Agile methodologies Experience collaborating with developers to maximize overall test coverage Ability to analyze recurring defects and recommend systemic improvements Experience using emulators and test environments effectively Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills Professional Skills Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to work independently while contributing as part of an engineering team Strong time-management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines Proactive mindset — you identify problems and drive solutions Appreciation for both continuous improvement and celebrating wins PAY RANGE & DESCRIPTION This position will be based full-time out of our FRONTSTEPS' Denver, CO headquarters and pays an annual salary of $110,000 - $135,000.
