Reporting to the Sr Mgr, Product Stewardship, this position is responsible for supporting the Product Stewardship and Regulatory Affairs department as the technical expert for assessing product hazard classifications, authoring safety data sheets (SDS), maintaining SDS document inventory and related distribution/access systems and advising the Nutrien and its subsidiaries on related product classification, hazards, chemistry, use restrictions, exposure, and product risk and related matters.

What you will do:

* Develop Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for relevant Nutrien products and its subsidiaries and related activities such as the use of SDS generation software, development of product special phrase inventories. * Consider appropriate regulatory requirements beyond chemical hazard classification to ensure all relevant designations and warning statements are present and correct on the SDS and/or related documents (e. EPA, SARA, IARC, Proposition 65). * Interpret lab reports for contaminant type and levels which would change the hazard designation and its inclusion on related documents such as SDS. * Acquire and maintain files upon which classifications and exemptions are based. * Conduct hazard classification assessments of new and existing chemical products (e. fertilizers, pesticides, adjuvants) and mixtures thereof, in use chemicals and process intermediates as required. * Assign chemical classification per the appropriate regional regulations AND version of the Global Hazard System (GHS) classifications. * Advise on options to reduce product hazards such as component, material source substitutions as well as concentration limits, and use patterns. * Provide chemical hazard assessment, chemical reactivity, product safety and risk reduction advisory services to the Nutrien Ag Solutions and Loveland Products Inc organizations and stakeholders. * Support training on the interpretation of SDS information and other related documents. * Acts as contact for external inquiries for advice on the meaning of SDS language, minimizing hazard exposure through proper personal protective equipment and handling practices, the hazard impacts of interaction with other chemicals or formulation changes, and product emergency situations pertaining to chemical hazard information and exposure recommendations (i.e. customer, Rocky Mountain Poison and Drug Safety, Chemtrec calls, etc.). * Contribute to the feedstock regulatory evaluation and new product endorsement processes as required. * Monitor, interpret and respond to Chemical hazard classification change impacts such as change of relevant government agency regulations. * Advise on risk impacts on products from Nutrien and its affiliates and ensure consistent approach across the broader scope of Nutrien products. * Participate in regulatory advocacy working groups and associations to reduce product and in-use chemical impacts and validate best practice on hazard assignment matters (i.e. AIHA). * Manage SDS inventories and hazard communication mechanisms, communicates on classification impacts of different product formulations, updates SDS versions to stakeholders and requestors, and maintains delivery inventories * Support Information Management including product registration processes, tools, and systems including technology upgrades and maintenance. * Support department invoicing and payment processes including check requests, invoicing, PO setups, etc. * Contribute to the strategy and direction of Product Stewardship programs including communication and improvement strategies.

What you will bring:

* College degree (BS/BA) preferred * 5+ years of practical experience including SDS authoring, product hazard classifications, and technical related work experience * 5+ years of agriculture business related, regulatory work and/or other relevant experience preferred * Excellent knowledge of Microsoft products, primarily email, Excel and Word * Demonstrated success facilitating change in large organizations, preferably in the Ag industry * Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, and change management skills in complex organizations * Results driven * SDS Authoring software experience * Ability to work independently and as a team * Able to engage in multiple initiatives with attention to detail * Exceptional organization skills with the ability to self-start on new tasks * Willingness to learn, teach and share information with teammates, peers, and management * Exceptional communication skills with a strong customer service attitude * Results driven

Compensation & Benefits:

$64,800 - $92,500 Salary Range. This range is estimated for the Product Stewardship Chemical Hazard & Safety Advisor in Loveland, CO. Actual salary and benefits may be different based upon location.

In addition to base pay, this role is also eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan, consistent with the terms of our plan(s), which provide discretionary award opportunities reflecting components such as performance of the company and the employee.
