What you will do:

  • Lead multiple software development teams while helping create a culture of high performance
  • Deliver best-in-class software by mentor development team managers on software development best practices
  • Help development teams tackle challenging problems by having a bias for action, including breaking problems into workable chunks, using iterative development, and leveraging software architecture design patterns
  • Partner with Product Management, UX Development, Cloud Engineering, Architecture and business stakeholders to create product roadmaps and release schedules
  • Build strong relationships with business and technology stakeholders
  • Lead high-level (epic level) estimation exercises for product releases
  • Mentor development teams on estimation techniques for epic and feature level estimation
  • Oversee the development of SaaS and Mobile products
  • Mentor software development managers and senior managers on roadmap development and release planning
  • Champion Agile methodologies including the Scrum framework
  • Leverage Agile practices across multiple development teams to creating repeatable and predictable software releases
  • Identify software delivery problems on teams and use your knowledge and experience to help resolve issues
  • Communicate release issues early, and work with product management, architecture, IT, and others to mitigate issues
  • Define metrics for all development teams, oversee implementation of metrics measurement and report on KPIs to executive leadership

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's required; experience in lieu of degree may be considered
  • 15+ years of experience in software development and/or operations including leading software architecture teams is required
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following: React Native, Node.js, Java, Python, REST APIs, JavaScript, TypeScript
  • Experience with microservice architecture is required
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline is preferred
  • Management experience with team sizes of 50+ members conducting software development, software support or software operations is preferred
  • Experience working on projects that span multiple business units, serving multiple stakeholders is preferred
  • Scrum or other Agile framework experience including leading Scrum teams, familiarity with scrum ceremonies and use of scrum artifacts to plan and predict software deliveries - Scrum Master Certification is a preferred
  • Management of production SaaS applications at scale preferred
  • Experience with Confluence / Jira, GraphQL, CI/CD pipelines is preferred
  • Experience in one or more of the following: AWS Certified Solution Architect Associate, AWS Certified Developer Associate, or AWS Certified Operations Associate is preferred

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary Range: $170,000 - $205,000. This range is estimated for the Director of Software Engineering/Digital Development position in Loveland, Colorado. Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location.

We provide an attractive benefits package that includes comprehensive medical, dental, vision coverage, and life insurance and well as disability coverage for positions working more than 30 hours per week. In addition, we have a retirement program that encourages our employees to save for the longer term, with generous matching employer contributions. In addition to base pay, this role is also eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan and long-term incentive plan, consistent with the terms of our plan, which provide discretionary award opportunities reflecting components such as performance of the company and the employee. Details will be discussed through the application process.
