Nordson MEDICAL designs, engineers and manufactures complex devices and components with applications in wound healing, surgical and minimally invasive, fluid management, pulmonology and interventional and structural heart. Our pioneering Advanced Polymers team was the first to manufacture and supply medical balloons to the medical device industry. Nordson MEDICAL works with doctors, start-ups and large medical companies around the world at any point in the product lifecycle, from concept to launch and beyond.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, train and coach all levels of employees in fundamentals of Continuous Improvement, drive of culture of Kaizen in all functions at all levels
  • Help define and execute the short and long-term strategy for Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • NBS standardization and best practice sharing across Nordson
  • Lead implementation of CI initiatives and problem-solving projects in collaboration with various business functions to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity and Cost as well as commercial and engineering functions.
  • Facilitate identification, quantification and prioritization of cost savings Initiatives; maintain project pipeline to support divisional savings targets
  • Oversees process development and validation for assembly and product preparation departments to ensure that a repeatable process is established, maintained and electronically documented.
  • Provides assistance to the Manufacturing Manager for developing and implementing new and/or refined processes for injection molding operations.
  • Generate comparative studies (i.e. equipment & process cost estimates, R.O.I., schedules, etc.) in determining accurate routings for manufacture of product.
  • Develops, justifies and manages capital equipment projects to support new products, as well as increase productivity on existing products.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor (i.e. written and/or verbal).

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations, or relevant degree is preferred; 12 years of relevant experience is required in lieu of a degree
  • 4-6 years of progressive continuous improvement experience demonstrating business acumen, leadership and ability to drive results
  • Proficiency in Lean thinking with application in both operations and transactional environments in a variety of situations
  • Familiar with medical manufacturing requirements (i.e. FDA-GMP, ISO9001, ISO13485) is preferred.
  • Change management / transformational experience required.

  • Basic operating knowledge of PCs, and supporting software (i.e. Microsoft Word, Microsoft Project, Excel, Power Point, etc.).
  • Fundamental understanding of ERP systems is required (i.e. training will be provided for IFS-Company ERP System).
  • Working knowledge of CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCad, Pro-E is desirable.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception. Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment where the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, vibration and where plastic injected parts are produced and packaged (i.e. plastic dust present, noise up to 80 db, etc.).

Base Salary Range for this position is $55,700 to $79,500; shift premium may be available depending on shift associated with the specific job opportunity. Benefits include Medical, Rx, Vision, Dental, and Health Savings Account (HSA), Retirement and Security benefits including 401k and Life Insurance. In addition to Paid Time off and paid Holidays, each employee receives 16 hours paid time each calendar year to perform volunteer services for Nordson-sponsored events.
