We look for people who have a safety-first mindset, who are collaborative team players, who deliver on their commitments, who are innovators in search of a better way, and who believe in inclusion.Working at Nutrien Ag Solutions will provide you an opportunity to help us Feed the Future, and grow your career.What you will do:Lead multiple squads of software developers while helping create a culture of high performanceHelp development teams tackle challenging problems by having a bias for action, including breaking problems into workable chunks, using iterative development, and leveraging software architecture design patternsPartner with Product Management, UX Development, Cloud Engineering, Architecture and business stakeholders to create product roadmaps and release schedulesCommunicate project status and escalate issues to direct managers, product management, and internal development partnersLead high-level (epic level) estimation exercises for product releasesOversee the development of SaaS and Mobile productsChampion Agile methodologies including the Scrum framework; leverage Agile practices to creating repeatable and predictable software releasesIdentify software delivery problems within squads and use your knowledge and experience to help resolve issuesCommunicate release issues early, and work with product management, architecture, IT, and others to mitigate issuesDefine metrics for all development teams, oversee implementation of metrics measurement and report on KPIs to executive leadershipAdvance the development of engineering standards, employee onboarding guides, product documentation, and engineering documentationProactively identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reductionsManage headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated, and that goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met in accordance with organizational roadmapsDeliver best-in-class software by mentoring development team leads, and individual contributors on software development best practicesMentor development team leads on estimation techniques for feature and story level estimationProvide people management for team members, including hiring, setting and monitoring of annual performance plans, coaching, motivating, rewarding, and career developmentScale teams that mix veteran talent eager for new challenges and new team members looking to grow their skill setsManage relationships with strategic partners and suppliers, including setting expectations regarding deliverables, product quality, schedules, and costs. Ensure that team members are effectively communicating and collaborating with these third-party resourcesWhat you will bring:Bachelor s in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline; Master s Degree preferred; relevant work experience may be substituted for education12+ years of software development experience; management experience with team sizes of 12+ members conducting software development5+ years in a management role or leadership position preferred, 1+ years requiredStrong familiarity with software architecture patterns and their applicationAbility to make architecture decisions at a team and product levelScrum or other Agile framework experience including leading Scrum teams, familiarity with scrum ceremonies and use of scrum artifacts to plan and predict software deliveries Scrum Master Certification is a plus!Agile Development experience (XP, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery), with specific Solution Architect (or similar) experienceExpertise in working with various business units to ensure executing to the overall visionKnowledge of Git code management practices (GitHub)Experience overseeing the delivery of products from concept to executionManagement of production SaaS applications at scaleExperience with code refactoring, design patterns, design-driven development, continuous deployment, highly scalable applications, and application security preferredRequired Technical Experience: Familiarity with one or more of the following: React Native, Node.js, CSS, Python, REST APIs, JavaScript, TypeScript. Experience with microservice architecture, TDD and CI/CD pipelinesPreferred Technical Experience: Confluence / Jira, GraphQL, RESTFUL APIs. One or more of the following: AWS Certified Solution Architect Associate, AWS Certified Developer Associate, or AWS Certified Operations Associate. AWS Professional level certifications are a plusCompensation & Benefits:Salary Range: $153,000 178,000. This range is estimated for the Senior Manager, Software Development position in Loveland, Colorado. Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location.We provide an attractive benefits package that includes comprehensive medical, dental, vision coverage, and life insurance and well as disability coverage for positions working more than 30 hours per week. In addition, we have a retirement program that encourages our employees to save for the longer term, with generous matching employer contributions.
