We are seeking Transportation Construction Project Engineers for our Construction Management team in Colorado -

The Project Engineer will help manage and administer federally funded roadway and bridge transportation construction projects. Responsible for project management, contract administration, inspection and testing team oversight, review and interpretation of plans, specifications, and other construction contract documents, monitor scope, schedule, and budgets, prepare and process work orders; mentor, supervise and assign work to team members while enforcing the practices, methods, and procedures of a professional work environment. Conduct field inspections of the construction work, track, and monitor schedule activities for payments, and verify work zone traffic control plans are being followed. -The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be a team player, is enthusiastic, has a positive attitude, self-motivated, flexible, honest, and dependable.

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Colorado or the ability to obtain license within 1 year
  • Experience with major road or bridge construction inspection and contract administration
  • Ability to act in a role of project and team leadership
  • Desire to help grow and develop staff and work closely with clients, engineers, and sub consultants to ensure project needs are met
  • Hands-on experience with the inspection and contract administration of federally funded road and bridge construction projects
  • Ability to manage construction inspection and testing activities and staff on a wide variety of roadway and bridge construction projects
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Experience working with contractors and owners to resolve administrative and field construction challenges
  • Knowledge of quality roles and responsibilities
  • Knowledge of material testing procedures and evaluation of test results
  • Experience with traffic control plan and method of handling traffic reviews as well as inspection of major traffic realignments on major highway systems
  • Experience with constructing submittal review, change order development and cost analysis, construction schedule review, RFI review and coordination, and general contract administration for federally funded transportation projects
  • Valid Driver's license with good driving record
  • Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, twist, or stoop frequently and for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to reach horizontally as well as vertically for required tasks
  • Ability to use construction or inspection safety equipment including fall protection
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, CMGC, and other alternative contract delivery methods
    • Experience on large, complex transportation construction projects
    • Experience with the Colorado Department of Transportation, or another State DOT
    • Experience on large blended consultant/owner teams
    • Served as an Assistant Project Engineer or Project Engineer for the Colorado DOT, or other State DOT
    • Completion of Colorado DOT inspector certification requirements, or equivalent from another State DOT
    • Experiencedtraining/mentoring less experienced construction staff
    • OSHA 10hr
