work. The Role PFS is seeking Ice Core Relocation Technicians to
join a specialized field crew responsible for the careful
relocation of irreplaceable ice core samples. This is a physically
demanding, safety-focused role requiring precision, teamwork, and
the ability to work effectively in extreme cold conditions. You
will work as part of a small, consistent team over a multi-week
effort, handling, transporting, and repositioning ice cores in
accordance with scientific and operational direction from
NSF/USGS/PFS staff. This is a temporary assignment of approximately
50 days in a highly unique, specialized research setting. While the
role is time-limited, strong performance may lead to consideration
for future PFS contracts or similar projects. What You'll Do Safely
handle, transport, and relocate ice core samples in extreme cold
conditions. Lift, carry, and maneuver ice cores weighing 10–100
lbs. Work as part of a trained crew to relocate up to 500 ice core
tubes per day. Operate material-handling equipment (training
provided). Participate in daily safety briefings and follow all
safety protocols. Maintain security and custody of government
property. Support close-out and final walkthrough activities. Work
collaboratively with a small crew for up to 50 days. Qualifications
Required: Ability to work in extreme cold and physically demanding
conditions. Commitment to safety and following detailed procedures.
Ability to work effectively as part of a small team for an extended
period. Preferred: Experience in field operations, logistics,
construction, warehousing, or scientific support. Experience with
forklifts, dollies, or carts. Prior work in remote or austere
