Job Description Job Description VP, Engineering & Technical Architect Title: VP, Engineering & Technical Architecture Location: Hybrid (1day in office) in Bellevue WA, El Segundo CA or Denver Comp: $280k-$320k bonus comprehensive benefits package Background experience needed: cloud native architecture, microservices, identity/access management, AI, domain/DNS operations. Web3 or blockchain identity experience is a huge bonus. Position Overview We are a happily stable and always evolving domain and registry services organization with offices in CA, WA and CO. We are excited to be launching a new product innovated for the agentic AI era and need a thoughtful, driven and focused Technical Leader to help steer this bold new ship. The VP of Engineering & Technical Architect will lead the technological vision and strategy for this team, they will build (find and hire) the team as well, focusing on the design and implementation of innovative cloud native architectures and scalable systems. This role is pivotal in driving the development of advanced technologies, including blockchain identity and AI, while ensuring security architecture and compliance. Key Responsibilities Architecture & Technical Strategy Set vision and direction for platform engineering; define long-term technical architecture for emerging AI tech. Oversee cloud-native system design (AWS or equivalent), microservices, APIs. Provide guidance on identity, authentication, certificate management strategies. Establish, enforce standards for security, compliance, performance across platform components. Strategic Leadership Serve as strategic partner to executive leadership. Identify, plan, execute strategic technical initiatives to drive platform evolution and business growth. Partner with product, business, engineering stakeholders to translate objectives to technical roadmaps, evaluate build-vs-buy options. Hands-on Technical Contribution Architect and contribute to solutions for complex challenges in identity infrastructure, scalability, cross-platform integration. Partner with development teams, ensure design quality, implementation excellence, system reliability. Team Leadership & Ecosystem Engagement Hire, onboard, coach, and manage high-performing team, foster a collaborative environment, consistently model our core values. Establish best practices for modern, AI-assisted development approaches. Represent technical perspectives in vendor evaluations, standards bodies, and community discussions. Qualifications 10 years experience delivering large scale distributed systems and 5 years leadership/people management Proven experience in cloud native architecture, APIs and microservices Strong background in technical strategy, architecture governance and stakeholder management. Experience with security architecture, PKI, key management and scalable system implementation. Familiarity with encryption technologies. Familiarity with DNS, DNSSEC, certification authorities/technologies. Demonstrated leadership in building and managing high-performing technical teams. Excellent communication and ability to balance multiple priorities with an aggressive roadmap/launch target. Startup experience! Experience with the following languages, databases Infrastructures and AI tools: Python, Go, TypeScript/JavaScript, PostgreSQL or similar, Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Cline, etc. Preferred additional experience aka BONUS SKILLS: Experience architecting multi-tenant SaaS, high-scale systems. Exposure to Web3, blockchain identity, decentralized identifiers (DID). Familiarity with IETF, W3C, open standards development. Background in domain registry, DNS operations, or related infrastructure.
